Grade Two Curriculum
Throughout this unit students will learn review classroom procedures and will review basic greeting and introductions. This is a way for them to refresh their conversational skills and review basic vocabulary.
As we begin to cover classroom supplies in Spanish, students will be reviewing a structure from Level One ("Yo necesito..." meaning "I need...") and learning a new structure: "Yo tengo..." or "I have..."
Mastery of this structure will require practice at home! Here is a quick pronunciation guide:
Yo necesito ________. (Yo neh-seh-see-toe __________). The question we use to prompt this response is "Que necesitas?" (K neh-seh-see-tahs?), meaning "What do you need?"
Yo tengo ___________. (Yo ten-go ______). The question we use to prompt this is "Que tienes?" (Kay tee-ehn-es?"), meaning "What do you have?"
This unit will also introduce one other question and answer: "Cuantos años tienes? -- How old are you?
Pronunciation: (Cwahn-toes ah-nyose tee-eh-nehs?)
The response is as follows -
Yo tengo ___ años . -- I'm __ years old.
(Yo ten-go __ ah-nyose.)
Feel free to try it out at home in conjunction with the vocabulary on the newsletter (see Home Page)!
Suerte!
